What is Circle of Security?

The Circle of Security Parenting program began in 1998 and is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.  It is an internationally recognized early intervention program that increases attachment and security developed by Glen Cooper, Kent Hoffman, and Bert Powell.

How Circle of Security Parenting Helps You and Your Child

Circle of Security Parenting assists parents in:

• Understanding your child's emotional world by learning to read his/her emotional needs
• Learn what emotional needs your child may be expressing through his/her difficult behavior
• Support your child's ability to successfully manage emotions
• Enhance the development of your child's self-esteem
• Honors your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure
• Learn how to protect and nurture your child from childhood through teenage years, while fostering independence

About the Group

The Circle of Security Parenting Group is a 10 week group for parents of children ages 1 to 7 years old.  Each group lasts one and a half hours that includes handouts and videos from the Circle of Security Parenting program.  In this program, parents will not only learn the material presented, but will gain a reflective and meaningful response to the material.

Each participant will also receive a copy of Raising a Secure Child by Kent Hoffman, Glen Cooper, and Bert Powell.

Circle of Security Parenting is also available to individuals and couples who want to enhance their parenting skills.
